I not sure what 'fradulant' matters you are thinking about.  Fraud protection starts with supplier review and selection, key points need to be established to not only limit fraud potential but also to detect potential irregularities that can lead to fraud.  Some of the more common areas of fraud in outsourcing relationship range from billing related irregularities (which the buyer should have pre-estimated in order to measure the supplier against) to Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) which if this is of high importance may require the supplier to only be exposed to a very small part of the overall IPR element.

Check the people out behind the companies.  We spend vast amounts of money doing background checks on our employees, talking to references and interviewing them personally.  We should invest at least as much to ensure the leadership at a partner company has a track record of honesty, fairness and innovation before job one gets performed and invoice one gets mailed.
