outsourcing tools to the rescue

we are seeing more use of and more requests for tools to help automate and streamline various apsects of the outsourcing process.   What tools do you use?  Where do you see them most useful?

The effective of any tool technology is driven by the effectiveness of a defined operating framework.  This may take the form of a process or simply a prescribed mode of operation.  Aside from fundamental communication related tools (Webex, IM, video conferencing...) we have also seen and have made use of wiki's & SharePoint for collaborative engineering, common project management, configuration management and issue management solutions, and shared use elements for regression testing & issue management.  Aside from the tool being applied, as previously described, the prescription of engineering standard framework devices are effective contributors to overall quality delivery.

are their any particular tools that you would recommend and or any areas within the outsourcing process that you feel they are most effective ?

i have seen significant growth in the use of software to better manage outsourcing relationships
both on the buy and sell side.  Anyone have any experience and or recommendations in this space?

On the development side, I have the service providers utilize VDI and RDP to develop in our sand-box.  I highly recommend the use jira with the connector to MS Exchange to work on issues during development.

On the QA side, I have the service providers utilize our HP Quality Center to address bugs during the test phase.

On the BPO side, I have the service providers utilize our Citrix environment to drive the systems in our environment. 

In both scenarios, I have the service providers use our Documentum or SharePoint for document sharing.
